Bruce Quade holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in graphic design from Wichita State University (1975), and in the 30-plus years since graduation he has worked on projects as varied as the colorful Hawaiian shirts he sports on the weekend.

In the early days of his career he produced layout, spot illustrations, and editorial cartooning for local newspapers in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Later, he produced fashion illustrations for Shepler's Inc. During his tenure at Shepler's he also developed the character "Ol' Shep" which was featured in numerous sales campaigns. He continued as a staff illustrator for Stephan Advertising where he primarily created illustration for reproduction by means of several different mediums, including colored pencil, pen and ink, and airbrush. The illustrations themselves were equally as varying. Bruce was responsible for fashion and product illustrations, cartooning, and mechanical drawings. He made an easy transition into several years of freelance work during which he created corporate identity brochures, political posters, completed photo retouch projects, and package design. He returned to the corporate world for 6 years, working for Boeing Military Airplane Company and finally as a Senior Graphic Designer for AlliedSignal Aerospace/Bendix King. Here, in addition to perfecting technical and industrial style illustration he tackled new challenges such as 3-dimensional model building, painting battlefield scenarios, and visual support to executive and engineering departments.

Since 1993, Bruce, an avid toy enthusiast and amateur game designer, has been the face and imagination behind Brand X Studio. Brand X has taken on projects like logo design, web graphics, and illustration of all kinds for various organizations including: Sprint, Louisa Foods, Relm Communications, Fike, SOR, Koller Craft, and JESCO Resources as well as many well-respected Kansas City-area design studios and advertising agencies. Taking on projects ranging from technical illustration to cartooning, Bruce tunes his style to suit your style in a display of versatility that proves Brand X Studio can truly create "illustration for the masses."
